"I started taking pictures as a teenager when my family gave me my first camera," says photographer Dan Hallman. "It gave me the opportunity to look at the world differently and train my eye at a young age,all the while having fun - as I still apply to my adult life!" By the time the Parsons graduate was in his early 20's, he was shooting campaigns for corporate giants like AMEX, BP, IBM and making a name in the buisiness with his special ability to evoke an authentic feel within the artifice of commercial photography and the speed of editorial. Hallman's images especially capture a moment - something in the face, in the emotion - which doesn't just capture your eye, it captures your interest. Through his eyes you see what is extraordinary in the everyday person, and what is everyday is those we consider extraordinary - making connections between the audience and the image in both the artistic and commercial/editorial aspects of the photograph. "Whether it's the Dalai Lama, Sting, J.Lo or a "real person," what I strive for is a sense of realness in a gaze to capture a feeling," he says. "The result is a genuine moment between the image and the viewer, achieving that is my passion." Dan Hallman has been sought out by clients ranging from British Petroleum, NOHS and SAP to magazines such as Glamour, Delta Sky and The Hollywood Reporter for his trademark human realism, versatility and the ability to take a concept and quickly create a viable image. Also being able to shoot very quickly under a celebrity's time crunch is something he does with ease. He lives in Buenos Aires, New York and London.
